Construction, delivery and installation of a wastewater treatment plant in compact design using the membrane bioreactor process (MBR - Membrane Batch Reactor)

The New Monte Rosa Hut is located at an altitude of 2,883.5 m above sea level in the midst of various glaciers, has a restaurant for about 180 guests and offers up to 130 overnight places. The sanitary facilities are designed for low-water operation. By reusing the biologically treated wastewater for flushing the toilets and as service water, the water consumption of the hut is additionally reduced.

The compact treatment plant consists of a mechanical pre-treatment (screening), an activation, a filter chamber with submerged ABIONIK membrane filters and a separate excess sludge storage tank.

The raw water first passes through a combined pre-treatment and equalization basin and then flows into the membrane bioreactor with submerged filters. The filtrate is sucked through the membranes by filtrate pumps. In addition, the plant is equipped with a filtrate storage tank, a UV disinfection system and a pump station for reusing the filtrate for toilet flushing (complete recirculation). Excess sludge is periodically removed by a submersible motor pump.
