Acute need for action to remediate soils and groundwater

The uncontrolled percolation of solutions and chemical cleaning agents has often led to the contamination of soil and groundwater in recent decades. The high toxicity as well as the longevity of halogenated hydrocarbon compounds have therefore created an acute need for action.

Since the removal and dumping of contaminated material has proven to be too costly in most cases, it has increasingly been replaced by hydrological and environmental-physical methods.

The stripping and adsorption plants used by ABIONIK offer a cost-effective possibility for the purification of soil and groundwater, which can be tailored to the individual cases of application, e.g. by combining different proven types of plants.

Waste water treatment in the following process steps:

Dirty water is fed via a separation system, inlet pumping station with submersible motor pumps
Screenings washing and round sand trap (by means of vertical fine screen)
Membrane biology: Activation tank with two external filter chambers
Filtrate is fed via filtrate pumps into the filtrate storage tank of the mixed water channel

Poultry, slaughter and processing plant for industrial waste water

The Al Ain poultry farm is not only a leading producer of chicken meat in the UAE, but also a pioneer in environmental protection. ABIONIK built the most modern plant for the utilization of highly contaminated waste water based on MBR technology. The entire waste water processing is now operated by a multi-stage industrial water treatment plant for use of irrigation water:

Plant capacity 400 m³ (expansion and modernization of 240 m³ output capacity)
Construction phase including planning: 8 months, including installation of remote monitoring

Customized project implementation

Since the treated wastewater has to seep into the karst area, particularly high demands are placed on the purification performance of the wastewater treatment plant with regard to nutrient reduction and hygienization.

The application of the membrane activated sludge process fulfills the hygienic requirements of the European bathing water directive in the sewage treatment plant effluent. The biological stage of the wastewater treatment plant is arranged in a compact structure with an activated sludge tank and two downstream membrane filtration chambers. The membrane wastewater treatment plant consists of a mechanical pre-treatment, activation, filter chambers with submerged membrane filters.
